Mind Reader

What if I told you I could read your mind?
What if I said I know that right now you feel broken. Maybe your whole self, but some portion of your life feels disconnected. Good days come and go, but there is still a piece of you that you've decided to shove to the back because it's too broken and it won't get fixed----ever.
What if I also said that I know that even though you have a good life and lots of good days, there are still days when you feel like you are struggling so much that you have to focus on merely breathing just so you can make it through the day.
Now even though one of those was probably right, I can't actually read your mind (honestly if you really think about it, it's a creepy concept). I can relate to you through my own experiences or I can take a wild guess and hope that at least one thing I said hit home plate, but that's the best I can do.
Mind reading isn't a thing. I don't understand why time and time again we get mad at those around us because they didn't do exactly what we wanted. Why is that? Oh right, because we didn't tell them! I'm not off the hook on this one, trust me. I can't name how many times I've gotten frustrated at Joshua because he didn't take my plate upstairs when he took his or how many times I was having a rough day and just wanted to be with him, but he didn't drop everything to come see me. Just try saying (or typing) out what made you frustrated sometime. Typing that situation out made it sound even more ridiculous. I know Joshua is always there for me, but he is also a human being and he still has a life, so to expect him to drop all of it because I'm having a bad day and can't seem to go to God? Crazy.
Communication is a learning process that takes lots of time, lots of mess ups, and lots of awkward moments. Tell that person when you've had a rough day. Maybe they will have the extra time to come see you and make it better or maybe they will tell you to take it to God. Even though it might feel pushy, it's way better than just making your friends guess and ending up being even more frustrated in the end.
