Fear

Fear consumes. Like smoke covering every inch of a once glowing city. Like water crashing into homes filled with life. Like a beautiful mind now covered in darkness. Like a smile replaced by constant tears.
Looking at a Proverbs 31 woman is pretty intimidating. For me, the most intimidating part is the fact that she laughs without fear of the future. So lets take a minute a break that down---she laughs without fear. I read that verse and think to myself, "now how on earth is that possible?" How can someone who has places to be, things to accomplish, and people to please be so carefree? Honestly, I'm still figuring it out because there are times when the last thing I do is laugh. I do have an idea at what it looks like.
You see the answer is simple (Jesus) when we look at the big picture. We may have places to be, but we must show up for the moments that build His kingdom and prepare us for the place we will end up. We all have things to accomplish, but how important is it to finish just one more episode instead of finishing one more prayer? Why are we trying so hard to please everyone around us when God loves us for who He created us to be? See the woman laughs because she looks at all she has and all she has done. She laughs because she has accomplished what she never thought possible. She laughs because she understands that life is mere seconds and she knows what's waiting for her in eternity.
She laughs without fear because she has learned that she can only control so much and in this earthly body she can only do so many things. She doesn't fear because she has created a bond with Jesus that is so strong that she knows He has her future all planned out and it can never fail.
What would it look like if we proceeded to laugh without fear of the future? What if we made the conscious effort to actually trust that God knows what He is doing and that He has a plan for us that will surpass all our wants and desires? What would happen if we decided to let go?
